Exploring Deeper

Life can seem good, on the surface, to the onlooker, to the self.
A busy, comfortable life filled with family, friends, work, recreation.

And yet
And yet…..

Slowly, time seems short – life’s demands fill every ounce of space. Too much to do – but little happiness or peace.
A life event may occur, a loss, an illness, a challenge which is hard to manage.
What does it mean for faith and philosophies  when everything becomes irrelevant or no longer makes any sense?

If ever your faith is shaken ..
Everything you thought you believed becomes less certain – the rug has been pulled out from under you, what is left?
It might feel difficult, there may be sadness, fear, maybe you feel lost.
This can be a time of awakening, a time to let go of  what has not worked – or what has been wrenched for your hands. Here and now to find in amongst all the uncertainly and difficulty, serenity emerges – it feels like love.

What does Beguinage mean?

What does Beguinage mean?

The beguines were  drawn to a contemplative path and devotion to God without dominance power structures.  The impetus for these people was a desire to live authentic and integrated lives which were immersed in God.

Unlike monasteries and convents, you could join and leave easily according to your  needs. There was no need to hand over all your autonomy or all your personal money. Most members continued their normal paid work. For some this meant they could live singly and safely and productively.

The people on the contemplative path will find  many treasures which may ultimately lead to the mystic sagacity.
